A magistrate in Ireland not long ago fined a man £20 for having an illicit still at work for manufacturing whiskey. To the surprise of the Court, Pat paid the fine next petty session day. Some time afterwards the worthy Magistrate met Pat on the road, and stopped him. Baying, * Now tell me Pat, how did you manage to pay the fine so tjuickly?' • Oh, yoUr Horfor, if you won't inform, TU tell you.* * Iri.deed, Pat, you may trust me j out wiih it.' ' Well, your Honor, as your Honor will know, I'll tell you. Why sure, after I left you in court the day I was fined, I started another; and that's the whole truth, your Honor.'
