Mr Bentley ia the Provincial Council last night gave uot.ce of ins iuteution to move ou Friday next the recommittal of the Estimates tor the purpose of reconsidering the amount voted by the Council as the salary of his Honor the Superintendent, with a view to its increase to £800. Mr Gibbs also gave notice immediately afterwards of his intention at the same time lo move the reconsideration of the whole ot the Departmental Estimates. We understand that ihe Colonial Agent, Mr Morrison, and Mr Wrigg leave this evening by the Charles Edward for the West Coast, for the purpose of visiting and inspecting the Brunner and Mount Rochfort coalmines, in connection with the railway project. Mr Morrison, we believe, proceeds thence overland to Hokitika and Christchureh. His Excellency the Governor arrived at Weliiugtonfroin Auckland on Sunday last, in H.M.S. Rosario.
