It will be seen that Mr. Stafford announces his inteution to meet his constituents on Saturday evening next, at the Provincial Hall. The announcement that Madame Carandini would last night give the first of a series of three concerts, was sufficient to prove that remiuisences of the delightful entertainments which assisted by her accomplished daughters and Mr Sherwin, had given during their former visit to Nelsou, had lost nothing of their powers of attraction. The programme, besides containing several old favorites, also included some compositions which were new to the audience, and amongst them we must especially notice Costa's fine quartette, 'Ecco quel fiero istente," which was beautifully given by the three ladies and Mr. Sherwin ; a very graceful song, ' Sing on ye little birds,' by Miss Rosina Carandini, full of harmonions changes, and Miss Fannie Carandini's 'Lady of'the Lea,' which is admirably suited to her voice and powers of expression, and was as admirably sung. This composition, the words and music of which combine to reuder it as perfect a specimen of ballad writiug as can well ba conceived, is sure to become an established favorite. We must not omit to mention that Madame Carandini was in first-rate voice, and sung the long andi trying scena commencing ' Leise, leise,' from ' Der Frieschutz' very charmingly followed in the second part of the concert by 'The Last Rose of Summer,' as a contrast, which was loudly redemanded. The second concert takes place this evening, with a very pleasing programme. It is Btated that the Rev. Mr Sou tar, of the Church of Scotland, has been appointed Minister of the Presbyterian Church at Pieton, and was to leave Scotland for Port Chalmers, on the 13th February last, so that his arrival may be expected shortly.
