NELSON BOARD OF WORKS. THE following BY-LAWS, having been con* firmed by the Superintendent and Executive Council, will COME INTO OPERATION on and after WEDNESDAY, the sth day of ."February nest. THOMAS YOUNGER, Secretary. By-Laws for Regulating the Stands for Hackney Carriages Plying vor Hnu. -within tue Cut of Nelson. Hackney Carriages plying for hire in the City of Nelson shall stand for hire at such places only as the Board of Works shall from time to time appoint for that purpose by r.otice in the Government Gazette, and in some newspaper published in the said city. Carriages shall take their stations on the stands in the order of their arrival, and -when any carriage shall be called or driveti off any stand, the carriage immediately behind shall draw up to the place vacated, and any otlier carriage behind in like order. No carriage or horse shall stand so as to obstruct the^foot-path or crossing-place. Any person committing a breach of tliese bylaws shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding 40 shillings. The following places sliall be STANDS for Hackney Carriages plying f<n- hire: — 1. The cntre part of Trafalgar- street, north of Bridge-street. 2. The centre part of collingwood-street, north of Bridge-street. 3. The west side of the road at the Port, between the Government Wharf and the Albion Hotel. 4. The west side of the Haven road, between the Custom-house and tbe Panama Company's offices, for the heavy goods carriages, such stnnd to be three leet from the curb-stone or water-table. 120
