The ancient manor and baronial estate, about 2250 acres, of Castle Combe, near Chippenbam, Wilts, the property of Mr Poulett Scrope, M.P., on which is some of the most beautiful and romantic scenery io the county of WHts, and which has been in possession of the Scrope family since the latter part of the 13th century, has beeu Bold by auction. Mr Lowndes, after a very spirited competition, became the purchaser for the sum of £133,000. It is said that the Duchess of St. Albans received no less than 300 presents on the occasion of her marriage, some of them of the most beautiful description. As Miss Sibyl Grey this young lady was most popular with all classes, and there can be no doubt that she will coutiuuo so in her taorQ exalted position.
