THE undersigned respectfully informs the inhabitants of Nelson and the Waimeas that he runs a COACH DAILY between Foxhill and Nelson; leaving Foxhil at half-past 7 u'clocka.m. and Nelson at 3 p.m. Booking OlSces at the Wakatu and Commercial Hotels, Traialgar-street. 1574 FRANCIS HOLDER. NOTICE. A FOUR-WHEELED CONVEYANCE will RUN from Waimea West to Nelson and b.ick. every WEDNESDAY" and SATURDAY, (weather permitting) leaving P. Spanger's place, in Redwood's Valley, at half-past S o'clock, the Horse and Jockey Hotel, at a quarter to 9 o'clock in the morning precisely, returning from Nelson at 3 o'clock. Fare 3s. each way. The annexed extracts are copied from a report in the Nelson Government Gazette, of date July 1, 1567, by Dr. Cusack, Provincial Surgeon, who reported on Pleuro-pneumonia : — " I have to state my distinct opiuion, that much of the mutton consumed in Nelson is unwholesome, in the sense of being almost destitute of the requisite elements of nutrition." Dr. Cusack makes the following observations regarding the meat supplied by the Nelsou Meat Bazaar : — " To those who can afford it, it is generally possible to obtain good meat; but to working men, to whom Id. or 2d. a pound is a large consideration, the importation of cattle has, in my opinion, been a great boon. Mr. Johnson, the enterprisingmerchant who has lately imported cattle into Nelson, is an utter stranger to me ; but as some prejudice exists against his beef, it is my duty, for the" information of that portion of the community with whom its lower price is a consideration, to state my impartial opinion, that ail of it that I have had an opportunity of seeiug or tasting was sound and wholesome, much more so than a great dual of the mutton lately sold in Nelson. If carefully stall-fed and tended on board ship, I am aware of no reason why most of the animals, if previously healthy, should not be landed in sound health at Neison." SHIPPING SUPPLIED.
