We take the following items of Australian intelligence from our latest files. A ne\**4 Ministry has been formed afc Brisbane, with Mr Mackenzie as Premier and Treasurer, and Messrs Priug, Lamb, Prior, and Palmer as his colleagues. Five ships of war are ordered to meet the Galatea at Adelaide, namely, the Challenger 32 guns, the Charybdis 21 guns, the Brisk 16 guns, the Falcon 10 guns, and the Virago 6 guns. The sum of £5000 has been voted at Sydney for the reception of the Duke of Edinburgh. The Presbyterian body in Sydney, having pushed through a bill to establish an affiliated College in connection with the University, for the avowed purpose of traiuing Presbyterian clergymen, cannot agree about the name. There are three parties — one in favor of the title of ' Sfc. Andrew's,' one preferring 'Presbyterian,' aud another voting for 'Queen's.' The total amount of the contributions to the Floods Relief Fuud in New South Wales amount to £20,000, a larger sum than has ever been collected for the same purpose before. Considerable alarm seems to have been created at San Francisco by the non-arrival of the Lyster Opera Troupe, who were expected to arrive in that city some months ago; but who however have uot yet quitted Australia, having accepted .engagements at Melbourne and Adelaide. Private letters, received at Melbourne state that Sir Charles Darling is seriously ill. The Whitworth rifles for the Intercolonial Match at Melbourne were daily expected to arrive by the Star of Peace. The Germans at Adelaide are preparing a great torchlight procession, in honor of Prince Alfred. The hearing of the appeal in the case of Queen v. Bertrand had been fixed by tho Judicial Committee of the Privy Council for the 27th June. The case is therefore probably by this time decided, and the result will have reached the Sydney Government by the Panama Mail. The Earl of Belmore, the new Governor of !Ncw South Wales, will not leave England before the middle of September. Miss Adelaide Ironside's, remains are to be brought by her mother to be interred iv her beloved Australia. Tho Appropriation Bill, including the grant to Lady Darling of £20,000, has been rejected in the Upper House by a majority of 20 to 6, notwithstanding the very strong influence of the Bank which was brought to bear to effect the passing of the Bill uuder protest to prevent the locking up of a quarter of a million. Mr M'Cann, a member of the Victorian House of Assembly, has been convicted of forgery, and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment. Mr Verdon will proceed to London as the geueral agent of Victoria.
