THE undersigned respectfully informs ; the inhabitants of Nelson and the Waimeas that he runs a COACH DAILY between Foxhiil and Nelson ; leaving Foxhil at half-past 7 o'clock a.m. and Nelson at 3 p.m. Booking Offices at the Wakatuand Commercial Hotels, Trafalgar-street. 1574 FRANCIS HOLDER. NOTICE. A FOUR-WHEELED CONVEYANCE will RUN from Waimea West to Nelson and back, every WEDNESDAY and SATURDAY, (weather permitting) leaving P. Spanger's place, in Redwood's Valley, at half-past 8 o'clock, the Horse and Oockey Hotel, at a quarter to 9 o'clock in the morning precisely, returning from Nelson at 3 o'clock. Fare 3s. each way. The annexed extracts are .copied from a report in the Nelson Government Gazette, of date July 1, 1867, by Dr. Cusack, Provincial Surgeon, who reported on Pleuro-pneumonia : — " I have to state my distinct opinion, that much of the mutton consumed iu Nelson is unwholesome, in the sense of being almost destitute ofthe requisite elements of nutrition." Dr, Cusack makes the following observations regarding the meat supplied by the. Nelson Meat Bazaar : — " To those vho can afford it, it is generally possible to obtain good meat; but to working, men, to whom I'd. or 2d. a pound is a large consideration, theimportation of cattle has, in my opinion, , been a great boon. Mr. Johnson, the enterprising merchant who has lately imported cattle into Nelson, is an utter stranger to me ; but as some prejudice exists against his beef, it is my duty, for the information of that portion ofthe community with whom its. lower price is 'a consideration, to state my impartial opinion, that all of it that I have had an opportunity of : seeing, or tasting was sound and wholesome, much more so than a great deal of the mutton' lately sold in Nelson. If carefully stall-fed and tended on; board ship, I am aware of no reason why. most of the animals, if previously healthy, ; should not he landed in sound health at Nelson."^ / SHIPPING SUPPLIED. .
