"VTOTICE is hereby given that a MEETING IM of RATEPAYERS will be held in tbe Market-place, at Noon, on MONDAY, the 29th of July instant, for the purpose of ELECTING FOUR MEMBERS of the Board of Works, to supply the vacancies which will then occur by the resignation of Mr. R. Aitken, and by the retire - ment of Messrs. Rout, D. Burns, and W. Wright (whose term of office wili then expire, but who are eligible for re-election). In the event of a Poll being demanded, POLLING will take place on the following day at the Market-place, Nelson, commencing at Noon, and ! closing at 4 o'clock p.m. Of the four members to be elected, three will hold office for two years, and one (in the place of Mr. R. Aitken) for one year only. The person who stands fourth highest on the show of hands , or on the poll, if a poll should take place, shall be deemed to be elected in the place of Mr. Aitken.
