From a telegram from Christchurch, which appears iv the- Wellington Independent of the 6th inst., we learn that the Canterbury Provincial Council went into Committee of Supply on Friday night, when large reductions were made in the Estimates, especially in the Survey Department. The Government have also onnounced their intention of appointing a Geldfield's Secretary, with a seat in the Council.
