The Argus is accountable for the fol lowing:-^" The biggest mushroom of the season, it appears, was found on Mr. Bell's station, Berimbruka, about three miles from Stony Creek Eeservoir, on Monday last. It measured four feet five inches in circumference, its stem being eighteen inches in circumference." . "We learn from a telegram which appears in the Sydney Empire of the 18fch ult. that a gentleman who has recently arrived in Victoria, and previously engaged in connection with the laying of the Atlantic Cable, purposes attempting to raise the -Tasmanian Cable immediately. A grand Masonic demonstration in commemoration of the laying of the foundation stone of the Masonic Almshouses at Prahran, near Melbourne, took place on the 1 7 th ult. His Excellency Sir H. Manners- Sutton, and 2000 spectators, including 500 ladies, were present, and there was ar-pnocession of 600 of the brethren. Thje ceremonial was a most - imposing and successful affair.
