TENDERS will be received at this office, until MONDAY, the 17th instant, from persons desirous of contracting to SUPPLY good hard dry FIREWOOD, at per cord, to the several Government Offices, JSospital, Lunatic Asylum, Gaol, Lock-up, and Destitute Poor, for the Six Months ending 31st December, 1867. PURSUANT to the provisions of the " Education Act, 1863," Ms Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that the ANNUAL RATE imposed by the said Act upon all Househoulders residing Avithin Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on MONDAY, the Ist day of July next ; and that the same Avill be received at the foiloAA-ing places, between the hours of 10 a._j. and 4 p.m., namely — Court House, Nelson, by the Inspector of Police ; School-house, Clifton-terrace, Suburban North, by Mr. Alexander Wragg; School-house, Stoke, by Mr. E. Austin; Agricultural Hall, Waimea Eabt, by Mr. Augustus G-. Brock; t School-house, Waimea West, by Mr. George Walker; School-bouse, Spring Grove, by Mr. Thomas Andrews; School-house, Wakefield, by Mr. R. Burbush; School-house, Upper Moutere, by Mr. William Best; School-house, LoAver Moutere,by Mr. W. Guy; Institute, Motueka, by Mr. Thomas Boyes; School-house, Pangatotara, by Mr. H. Danvers; School-house, Riwaka, by Mr. C. Pattie; School-house, Motupipi, by Mr. J. Baird; House of Mr. G. Tavlor, Takaka, by Mr. G. Taylor; Police Station, Collingwood, by Mr. John Fisher; Court House, Cobden, by the Sergeant of Police. The aforesaid Act requires that '■' every householder in each educational district shall pay, annually, twenty shillings, ancl a further sum of five shillings for every child of such householder betAveen the ages of five and fourteen years: Provided always, that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this Act; nor for any child attend'ng any school not established under this Act, in respect of Avhom such persons shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the teacher of such school, shoAving that such child has attended during tlie three months previous to the leA-ying of the rate."
