'mENDERS will be received at this office, until i MONDAY, the 17th instant, from persons desirous of contracting to SUPPLY good hard dry FIREWOOD, at per cord, to the several Government .Offices, Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, Gaol, Lock-up, and Destitute Poor, for the Six Months ending 31st December, 1867. ALFEED GREENFIELD, 2590 Provincial Secretary. EDUCATION RATE. Superintendent's Office, Nelson, June 5, 1867. PURSUANT to the provisions of the "Education Act, 1863," his Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that the ANNUAL RATE imposed by the said Act upon all Househoulders residing within Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on MONDAY, the Ist day of July next ; and that the same will be received at the following places, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., namely — Court House, Nelson, by the Inspector of Police ; • School-house, Clifton-terrace, Suburban North, by Mr. Alexander Wragg; School-house, Stoke, by Mr. E. Austin; Agricultural Hall, Waimea East, by Mr. Augustus G. Brock; School-house, Waimea West, by Mr. George Walker; Sthool -house, Spring Grove, by Mr. Thomas Andrews; School -house, Wakefield, by Mr. R. Burbush; School-house, Upper Moutere, by Mr. William Best; School-house, lower Moutere, by Mr. W. Guy; Institute, Motueka, by Mr. Thomas Boyes ; School-house, Pangatotara, by Mr. H. Danvers; School-house, Eiwaka, by Mr. C. Pattie; School-house, Motupipi, by Mr. J. Baird; House of Mr. a. Taylor, Takaka, by Mr. G. Taylor; Police Station, Collingwood, by Mr. John Fisher; Court House, Cobden, by the Sergeant of Police. The aforesaid Act requires that " every householder in each educational district shall pay, annually, twenty shillings, and a further sum of five shillings for every child of such householder between the ages of five and fourteen years: Provided always, that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this Act; nor for any child attending any school not established under this Act, in respect of whom such persons shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended during the three months previous to the levying of the rate." SEALED TENDERS will be received at this office until MONDAY, the 1 7th June, instant, from persons desirous of contracting to SUPPLY the undermentioned ARTICLES, for six months ending the 31st December next, to the Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, Gaol, Lock-up, and Destitute Poor, viz. : — I.— MUTTON and BEEF, fresh, and free from bone ... atperlb. Coffee „ Chocolate „ Sugar ... „ Corn Flour „ Oatmeal „ Arrowroot » Sago „ Pearl Barley „ Rice >, ■ Linseed Meal „ Butter, fresh „ „ salt » Mustard „ Pepper „ „ ground „ Salt, fine „ „ coarse. „ Soap „ Candles, sperm „ „ mould „ Whiting „ Potatoes „ Tobacco „ Eggs at per doz. Milk at per quart Vinegar „ Wick at per ounce Matches, vestas at per box. Samples will be required to be left at the office with the tenders. Articles to be delivered as required, at the Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, Gaol, and Asylum for the Poor.
