GREECE.
Athens, April 10. A genaral organisation of the Christians in the Eastern Provinces of Turkey and of Greece has been completed against Turkey, and matters look vow as if a war was about to be commenced, in which the power of the Porte in Europe would ba completely crippled and destroyed. April 11. The Sultan threateus to declare war against Greece on account of her continuance of insurrectionary troubles on the Turkish fronsier. London, April 11. The Spanish Government refuses to yield to the demand made by England for indemnity and satisfaction in the case of the steamer Tornado. Washington, April 11. None of the diplomatic corps in this city participate in the apprehension of war between France and Prussia, and none are less apprehensive of such a calamity than the representatives of those two great powers. New York, April 11. The Democrats are holding a State convention at Albany, and the Republicans a State convention at Syracuse, to nominate delegates to a convention to revise the Constitution of this State. The Repullicans are in favor of inserting a clause in the Constitution, giving the negroes in the State the right of suffrage. The Democrats are opposed to giving any such right. The political campaign in the State is opening briskly. A new line of steamers is to be laid on between New York and Panama. The contract has been entered into for the manufacture and laying down of a submarine cable between the United States and Havannah, to be completed by the end of June. This is to be the first link of the intended cable to Panama via Jamaica. The wires are already insulated, and it is expected Panama will have telegraphic communication Avith New York within twelve months. ' - The new steamship line between Califoania and China has proved an entire success.' The Colorado, on her first trip, took 274 passengers, and 1,200 tons of freight. Late news from the seat of war iv Paraguay is to the effect that a proposition for peace has been forwarded from the allied South American forces to President Lopez.
