CHRIST CHURCH BAZAAR.

To the Editor of tub 'Nelson Evening Mail.' Sir — I have been requested, by the Committee of the Ladies concerned in getting up the late Bazaar for the benefit of Christ Church, Nelson, to make public the following statement. You will oblige me much by giving it insertion in your columns. The proceeds of the Bazaar were as follows :—

The ladies' Committee desire me to return their most sincere thanks to the numerous contributors, not only in Nelson Province, but in other parts of the colony, whose liberal gifts enabled them to offer to the public a display of objects which otherwise it would have been impossible for them to have secured, and by •which means the success of the Bazaar was so greatly promoted. They desire further to thank the various ladies and others, who rendered them most zealous and effectual assistance within the Hall. To his Honor the Superintendent and Executive, for the free use of the Hall, as also the local Press, which has inserted their advertisements and done other printing for them gratuitously, their warm acknowledgments are due ; and they desire me to say that they would not be doing justice to their feelings were thej to abstain from mentioning, with much gratitude, the kind support which they have received from the public generally. The result proves that a liberal and generous spirit has been shown by the people of Nelson. What has been achieved could not have been done without considerable effort, and for this the Ladies' Committee have every reason to he grateful. It has enabled them to accomplish a most desirable work — to free from debt one of the oldest and principal churches in this island of New Zealand, and, by doing so, to enlarge and extend the sphere of usefulness of the Church of England in Nelson. I am, &c, Thomas Brunner, Hon. Sec.
