In the Melbourne County Court recently, in Adamson and wife v. Patterson, it was sought to recover damages for injuries sustained by plaintiff's wife through haviug been attacked by a sheep belonging to the defendant, and, as alleged, known to be vicious. The plaintiffs were non-suited. A short time ago, 2500 acres of grass were burned on the run of Mr. J. R. Hopkins, Victoria, the fire being caused by \a woman throwing out some hot ashes. The appreciation which the Murray wines have met with in Madras, and also from the Melbourne Medical Society, has afforded considerable satisfaction and encouragement to the Albury growers. It appears that there is no truth in the report recently circulated that the settlement.at Cape York was about to be abandoned. The bazaar in aid of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beechworth, has been a great success. The net proceeds amounted to £700, with about £100 worth of goods still remaining in hand.
