THE FIRE BRIGADE.

To the' Editor of the ' Evening Mail.' Sir — Ou Friday evening last, the usual practice of the Fire-brigade took place, aud when the suction hose was let down iuto the sewer at the juuction of Trafalgar and Bridge-streets, it was discovered that there was not sufficient water to keep the engine going, eveu for five minutes, and it was therefore found necessary to take the engine to the river. I am not positively aware to whom blame is attributable for this neglect, but I trust that when the brigade meets on Friday next, they may be spared the annoyance and disappointment arising from

this source. I need say nothing more as to the danger in which the whole city is placed^ by such gross mismanagement. I am, &c, SfIADE OP ERAIDWOOD. Nelson, March 1.
