The paddle steamer Nelson left Hokitika on the 20th, at 9 a.m., and arrived at the Grey at 12 noon the same day; left the Grey on Thursday at 12 noon, and at 4 p.m. arrived at Fox's, and left for the Buller at 6 p.m., arriving there at 10 p.m.; left again on Friday at 1 p.m., and at 7 p.rn. arrived off Rock's point, aat 12 midnight was off Cape Farewell, and arrived at Nelson at 8 a.m., this day. The schooner Amateur left Nelson on the 24th January, an'd after a fine passage of eleven days arrived at Newcastle, and loaded with coals. She left Newcastle on the 9th February for Nelson, arriving, after a passage of thirteen days, tbis morning at 8 o'clock. Splendid weather throughout. On her way down she passed a brig, it being dusk could not make out her name.
