Correspondence.
To the Editor of the 'Evening Mail.' Sir — Allow me in your columns to take the earliest opportunity of correcting a mistake which was made in the Colonist of yesterday, aud which in the particular iustance it refers to does a decided injustice to Mr. Curtis. It was stated in an article in the Colonist, that from the revised report of his late speech, Mr. Curtis had struck out the statement respecting the patent slip : " that Captaiu Benson, the manager of the Panama Company, would change his head-quarters from Wellington to Nelson." I find this morning, that though Mr. Curtis's report does not mention Captain Benson's name, as Mr. Curtis distinctly did at the meeting, still it does say, in less prominent language than he employed, that "the head-quarters of that company would be removed to this town." As a matter of simple justice, I make this correction, and express regret for having fallen into the error, which was eutirely unintentional. I am, &c, The Editor or the ' Colonist.' Nelson, February 23.
