AKRITED. Lyttelton.— Peb. 11: Wainui, from Dunedin, at 8 a.m. Port Chalmers. — Feb. 11: s. Omeo, from Melbourne, at 12-40 p.m. ; 12th: Tairoa, from Molyneux, at 5 a.m. SAILED. Lyttelto"-"*.— Feb. 12: H.M.S. Brisk, for Dunedin, at 8 p.m.; 13th: s. Wainui, for Dunedin, at 2 p.m. Port Chalmers — Feb. 11 : Three Brothers, for Timaru, at 11 -4 5 p.m.; s. Wellington, for the Blnff, at 4-35 p m.; 12th: s. WillianTjttiskin, for Hokitika, at 4'4U p.m. The New Zealand Steam Navigation Company's steamer Stormbird, Captain Kreeft, left Hokitika on Monday last, llth inst., at 2 p.m., for the Grey river, where she arrived at 5 p.m., but being too late for the tide did not enter ; left the Grey at 3 p.m. on the 12th, and arrived at Fox's after three hours steaming : after discharging cargo and passengers left tor Kelson, arriving in harbour last evening at 6 o'clock. Experienced fine weather throughout. We are indebted to tlie steward for files of papers and for later mining intelligence. We give the following additional partieulars of the paddle steamer Lady Barkly, whose arrival from the Manukau we announced yesterday. She is built of timber, coppered and copper-fastened, and is of great length, being 90 feet from stem to stern, with 11 feet beam. She is fitted with a low pressure side-lever engine, of 22 horse-power, nominal, and can steam, it is said, upon 15 16. pressure, ten knots per hour for 24 hours consecutively. She was brought down under canvas, and showed herself to be an excellent sea boat, her captain speaking very highly of her. In the absence of better and certain communication with the Bay districts this seasonable addition to our coasting fleet will be a great boon to passengers and merchants. We wish her spirited owner every success.
