The Nelson Evening Mail. TUESDAY, JANUARY 29, 1867.

* A meeting of the Nelson Volunteer Fire Brigade is advertised to take place this evening, at half-past 6 o'clock, at the Eugine-house. A private concert of the Harmonic Society, will take place this evening, at the Provincial Hall. This evening a tea meeting, and after that a public meeting, will be held at the Wesleyan Chapel, in connection with the Anniversary of the Sunday School. His Honor the Superintendent, Alfred Sauuders, Esq., is expected to preside at the public meeting. At a meeting of the inhabitants of Waimea West, on the 10th instant, it was resolved to postpone the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Settlement, until the 2Sth February. The reason of the postponement was that the farmers are occupied with the harvest. At the Westland Supreme Court, on the 24th instant, J. W. Chamberlain, convicted of perjury, was sentenced to four years penal servitude. W. De Lacey, convicted of conspiring to rob Mr. Fox, was sentenced to two years imprisonment. Thomas Audley, was sentenced to two years imprisonment, for stealing a letter containing money, from the ' Hokitika Post-office. The trial of James Wilson, alias Murray, for the murder of Mr. Dobson, is being proceeded with. It is expected to last several days.
