The Paris Monde has recieved accounts of the martyrdom of nine French Catholic missionaries, in the Corea, in Asia. One other escaped over the frontier of that country, and two more are still wandering in the mountains. The names of those put to death are Mgr. S. F. Berneux Bishop of Capse, from the diocese of Le Mans ; Mgr. A. Daveluy, bishop in partibus of Ancona, from the diocese of Amiens; MM. Beaulieu, of Bordeaux, Dorie of Lucon, Ranfer-de-Bretenieres of Dijon, Pourthie of Alby, Petit Nicholas of St. Die, Aumaitre of Angouleme, and Huin of Langres. A letter from Batavia, dated the 17th uit., remarks as follows: — The telegraph cable between Anjer (Straits of Sunda) and Telok BeetoDg, south coast of Sumatra, has been successfully laid. Within a few months hence we will have telegraphic communication from Banjoe•wangie, the eastmost port in Java, to Aujer, the westernmost port in, the island, crossing the Straits of Snnda to Telok Betong, thence to Palembang, a port ou the east coast of Sumatra. By this means we shall be approaching Singapore. •The s.s. Wellington will leave Nelson, at 4 p.m. to-morrow, for Wellington and the Southern ports, carrying the homeward mails via Suez.
