The Ladybird, which was advertised \ to-, leave this morning, sailed suddenly between;"---10 and 11 o'clock last night, in consequenceof a telegraphic communication from the Government at Wellington. The E. Post says that Mr. Simmonds, chief officer of the Kakaia, has been relieved by Mr. Young, chief officer of the Tararua, as he will assume the command of the Company's steamer Otago on the arrival of that vessel in Wellington. Colonel Haultain met the electors of Frahkiyu on the 27th ultimo, at the public hall, Otahuhu, and having made a long statement in explanation of his political conduct, thisresolution was put : — " That this meeting considers the explanation givenby Colonel Haultain of his conduct during the recent sitting of the General Assembly uusatisfactory." There were nine hands held up for the resolution and two against it. It should. be stated that the hall was at this time tolerably full, but many of those present were not electors. Several questions were put to ; Colonel Haultaio, amongst others, one by Mr Styak, as to whether Colonel Haultain was prepared to resign his seat as representative of Franklyn, having forfeited the confidence of the constituency. Colonel Haultain saidthat the number of electors exceeded 1,000, and as nine hands only had been held up in favor of the resolution, he. did not think :he ivas called upon to resign.
