Friday, October 12, 1866. Present : Mr. R. Burn, in the chair; Messrs. Bentley, Burns, Carter, Aitken, Wright, and -Rout. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Mr. Aitken's motion relative to the footbridge over the Maitai was postponed, the subscribers' list not being made up. A lettep was read from Mr. Luckie, respecting the clearing of a ditch near his property; also from Messrs. Snow, Davis, Wiesenhavern, Goodman, Firth, Symonds. and J. Aitken, making a similar request. The Public Works Committee were, requested to report on both cases at the next meeting. A letter was received from Mr. Balme, asking the Board to refund 12s. 6d. which he had paid in excess. As the rate was not entered in the late book, the writer was requested to look to Mr. Jennings for repayment. A letter from Mr. Gray, asking for forbearance in reference to payment of rates, was handed to the Collector, to be dealt with as he thought best. ' An application for repairs to the footbridge leading from Vanguard-street to Totara-street, made by Mr. M'lntosh, was complied with. Mr. Barraclough wrote requesting the Board to fill up the footpath in Hardy-street, near his residence. The Public Works Committee were requested to report on the same next meeting night. The inhabitants of tlie Waimea-rpad, near the Rising Sun, having requested the Board to clear out the ditcli at that place, ie was ordered that tlie work be done. A letter was read from Mr. Barlow, requesting the Board to gravel where he had filled in at the New Wharf. Tlie Secretary was requested to attend to his request when the place was properly filled up. On the motion of Mr. Carter, it was ordered that the ground opposite the office of the Board be properly fenced iv, and that an iron gate be placed in front. Mr. Hounsel requested permission to put up a. fence in Shakespear walk, to protect the wattling there. Application granted, subject to Mr. Adam» being agreeable, and to be removed when ordered by the secretary. Mr. Browning, of Toi Toi Valley, made an offer to the Board to do £10 worth of work on condition that they paid him £5, the work to be done to a bridge near his residence. It was ordered that the offer be accepted ; the work to be done under the superintendence of the secretary, who was instructed to see that the Board receive value for the expenditure. Mr. Stock having requested the Board to widen the footpath between his house and the office of the Panama Co. ; it was resolved that the Board do the work, if Mr Stock would find all material, under the inspection of the secretary. The following payments were ordered : — Bray's account, £83 lis. ; J. Jennings, £47; Bradcock, £45; M'Artney, £2 17s. 6d.; Peat and Thornton, £1 18s.; Lock, £2 12s. Gd.; Robertson, £2 Os. 9d.; W. Jones, £0 10s. d. ; G. Blick, £1 12s. ; Evening Mail, £12 lis. 6d.; Patching, £2 10s. 6d.; Osman, £14 155.; Tollgate, 4s. 6d.; Sherratt, £13 Us.4d.; Hibble, 15s. Bd.; 11. Hounsell, £1 155.; J. Hounsell, £l 45.; Dun Mountain Co., £19 45.; I. M. Hill, £8 17s. 2.; R. K. Turner, £35 155.; C. Murfin, £100; Smith, £10 os. 9d. ; Labor, £31 19s. 6d.
