The Lyttietou Times correspondent relates a singular contretemps in the" General Assembly: — A certain measure has been passed through the Upper House, and sent down with p,n additional 'clause tacked on to the bill as originally printed. The new clause was overlooked in the Lower House, and the bill passed through all its stages iu its original shape. Thus, one House had passed one bill the other a different one. When tho mistake was discovered there, was nothing to be done but to rescind all the proceedings on the bill, and. start afresh through all the stages from the beginning, which is now being done. The following, which we take from the Tarrengower Times, should act as a caution to stockowners: — We regret very much to hear that, on Monday night, Mr D. M'Farlane, of Stonehouse,. Baringhup, lost his splendid imported bull Lord Raglan. When the animal was brought in at night it was. found to be much swollen from eating too freely of trefoil, or wild clover, and, although every known remedy was tried, the animal expired. Mr. M'Laren, a few days before, lost a valuable bull from the same cause. Bell's Life in, Victoria, says : — Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holt were, during the month <>f June, pursuing their provincial tour. They appeared successively at Birkenhead und Cardiff, in tragedy and melo-drama.
