The Wellington papers state that the demand for poultry iu that port for the steamers calling thereat present exceeds the supply; so that farmers and other settlers would do well to turn their attention to raising fowls and other domestic birds. The D. S. Cross of the loth states that intelligence was received by ?dr. Naughtou of a fatal accident which occured near Rosalie Bay, Great Barrier Island, on the SOth of August. Several men, including Sir. Pit tar, Mr. Noone, and the. deceased, Thomas Stratum, were out bullock-hunting, and had succeeded in killing an animal. The carcase was carried to the edge of a cliff which faces the sea, about tliree or four miles from Rosalie Bay, for the purpose of lowering it into a boat for conveyance home. This was done, when the deceased said he would try to get down the cliff, to go home in the boat. In doing so, some loose stones on. the face of the cliff gave way, aud Strattou was precipitated to the bottom, a fall of about 90 to 100 feet. Prir. Pit, tar, who was in the boat, immediately pulled to the spot and found him -quite dead.
