The mail for Hokitika, Greymouth, and Southland, by the Egmont, closes at 5 p.m., to-morrow. . The homeward mail, via Panama, will leave Wellington to-morrow, by the s.s. Rakaia. Dr. Hector has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society. The sum of £126 has been voted for the widow and children of Mr. E. Broughton.
