BY SPECIAL TELEGRAM. Evening Mail Office, Thursday, 4 p.m. By the arrival of the Tararua'at the Bluff on Wednesday evening, we have English uews to 14th June. Great apprehensions were felt that the cholera was about to visit England, and preparations were being made to receive the dreaded scourge. The emigration from Ireland, to America was ou the increase, so much so as to excite alarm amongst some of the lauded proprietors. The Derby at Epsom was won by Lord Lyon; Rustic was second, Monarch Glen third. All Stock well's. It is reported that the trial of Jefferson Davis will take place in June ; in prospect of which he is said to express great satisfaction, in consequence of the serious effects long confinement has had on his health. The cholera is less severe in New York than it has been. The Fenian movement is conducted with less enthusiasm than formerly, and Stevens has lost a great deal of his popularity. The Fenians have captured the British schoouer Wentworth in the State of Maine. A Fenian descent is meditated on Meuan Island. Stephens is denounced in America as a British spy. Confidence is increasing in English mercantile circles. Gladiateur has won the Ascot cup. A European Conference has been appointed to take place at Paris, on the 11th June. Callao was recently bombarded by the Spanish fleet, which suffered considerably from the resistance made by the inhabitants. Wool maintains fair prices. The Bank rate of discount is 11 per cent. The latest accounts state that the idea of a European conference has been abandoned, from the difficulty experienced in reconciling the numerous conflicting interests involved. Several failures are spoken of in commercial circles, amongst them the Agra Bank. Prussia has entered Holstein, and a Euro- \ pean war is no longer to be avoided. \ Garibaldi has entered Veuetia, and the | Pope has fled from Rome.
