Dr. Officer, of Tasmania, writes that 600 of the salmon ova are hatched, aud 1000 trouti The Acclimatization Society of Tasmania invites the neighboring colonies to join in the expense of £800 for auother shipment of ova. • The Message de Tahiti of 31st March, gives an account of the meeting of the Legislative Assembly -of 1866. The session was opened on the 26th March. The Imperial Commandant and Commissary, accompanied by the chief civil aud military officers, waited at the palace at 1 o'clock, and conducted the Queen to the" Assembly amid salvos of -eannon. " The speech of her Majesty Queen Pomar'e read by the Pince Consort, Ariifaate', -opeued the session. M. the Imperial Commandant, and Commissary then addressed the Assembly." The Messager naively . adds, " These two speeches, published in the French and Tahitian languages, are remarkable as much ou account of the similarity of the sentiments which animate the Queen, and the representative of his Majesty the Emperor, as for the aspect of the development and progress already attained, in which may be mentioned as of the first importance ; the adoption of the French code. The Tahitian people can then say with pride 'that they have taken their stand iv the great family of civilised nations."
