In reference to the telegraph across Cook's Straits the Press says—ln contemplation of the arrival of the cable to connect the two islands, the necessary materials for the completion of the shore ends have been forwarded from Christchurch. A considerable amount of plant has been sent to Blenheim, which is the converging point of all the present lines in this island, and .sufficient to reach the sea. We understand, also, that a sufficient quantity has been forwarded to Wellington to complete that end of the line to the sea, so that when the cable arrives, the communication can be effected without any unnecessary delay.
