COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.
There has been very little business doing this week; few orders have come to hand from the West Coast. There is a considerable demand for butter, but the quantity offering is small; quotations are 2s 2d to 2s. 3d. Cheese is worth Is 4d; bacon, Is 2d to Is 4d. Potatoes have come in less freely the farmers declining to sell at former rates, and they have advanced to £4 per ton; there is very 'little demand. Onions are scarce, and realise £30 per ton readily. Very few apples now come into the market, the supply for the year being almost over ; tthey are worth 10s •per bushel. Bran, 2s per bushel, and in demand. NELSON RETAIL MARKETS.— June 8. Beef, 6d to 8d per lb Bread, 2lb loaf, 6d Mutton, 6d to 8d Butter, fresh, 2s 4d per lb Tork, 8d to 9d Cheese, col., Is 3d to Is 8d Bacon, Is 6d to Is 9d Ducks, 7s per pair Ham, Is 6d to 2s 0d 4 Fowls, 6s Lard, Is 3d . Turkeys, 6s to 9s each Eggs, 3s per dozen Hour. — Messrs. Bod & Hounsell quote, best, at £18 per ton. Wheat, 6s 6d per'bushel; barley, 6s 6d; oats, 4s 6d to ss. Potatoes, £5 to £6 per ton; hay, £7. Beer, £6 per hhd; 9s per dozen.
