Buniors are in circulation that some good ground has been discovered ou the north bank of the lliver Grey, about five miles from town. We shall have further particulars in a day or two, which will be made public in our next issue. Eespecting the weather in Riverina the Pastoral Times says : — We are happy to hear that the rain has been very general, and heavier to the north of Deniliquin than on the south. On the Old Man Plain, from Pine Ridge to Hay, the plains are covered with water. On the Lower Murrumbidgee the rain has been very heavy, and travelling is difficult; in fact, from east to west and from north to south the whole of the plains of southern fiiverina have had a fine supply of rain. Its benefits are already made manifest. A Long Task.— The French Academy has advanced as far as the word Analogie in the new edition of their famous dictionary. A meeting is held every Thursday, at which each Avord is separately discussed. The part already completed fills five bulky volums in quarto, and it is calculated that the letter A will require eight such volumns for itself. The entire work will be contained in about 100 voiums, which may be expected to appear in somewhat less than a couple o f centuries.
