1. The Provincial Secretary to move, That the Estimates be recommitted, for the purpose of making the following alterations, viz.—To strike out the figures " 160/." after the word " Sergeant," in Police Department, and insert the figures "170/." Also after the words " Hurunui Bridge," that the words and figures, " subject to the approval of the Provincial Engineer and also subject to the sum of 1,000 being subscribed by the inhabitants of Amuri 3000/," be struck out and the figures " 2,000/." inserted. 2. Mr. Gibbs to move, on thfi recommittal of the Estimates, That his Honor the Superintendent be requested to place on the Estimates the sum of 25/. for the purpose of repairing the Slate Eiver Bridge. 3. Mr. Kingdon to move the resolution proposed by the Select Committee appointed to take into consideration and report upon the petition of Mr. Matthew Butty, namely, That as the Committee find, that the valuation of Batty's plant and improvements, on which the Government proposed to act has been made chiefly by Mr. Burnett, who was at the time in the service of the Government, they think it would be desirable that a fresh valuation should be made by two persons and an umpire appointed by them ; that one of the valuers should be named by the Superintendent and the other by Mr. Batty, but neither should be in any way connected either with the Government, with the present Lessees of the mine, or with Batty and his partners. The expense of the valuation to be equally divided between Mr. Batty and the Government. In case Mr. Batty declines or neglects to appoint a valuator within ten days, the Committee consider that the valuation of Mr. Burnett should be strictly acter , . upon. 4. Mr. Dodson to move, on recommital of the Estimates, to strike out the figures "£100," after the item " Suburban North Road Board," and insert the figures "£125." 5. The Provincial Solicitor to move, on the recommittal of the Estimates, that the figures " £5,000," after the word " Sinking Fund," be struck out, and the figures " £15.000 " substituted. 6. Mr. Kingdon to move, That his Honor the Superintendent be requested to raise the salaries of the Turnkey and Overseers of the Gaol to the same rate as the Constables, viz.—ll/. per month each. 7. The Provincial Solicitor to move for leave to bring in a bill to amend the " Buller Reserves Administration Act, 1863." The Council to meet at 5 o'clock.

Resident Magistrate's Court.—ln this Court, this morning, judgments were given for plaintiffs in the following cases for debt :—Potter v. Walcott, 4l; Harley and Son v. Newman, 125.; same v. Harford, "1 155.; Scaite v. John Berry, \l 4s. 6d.; Snow v. T. Berry, 2/ Is. Bd.; Central Board of Education, v- W. Lipscombe, 1/ 15s. B. Dennison sued Warren and Hudson for £1 10s. fora calf. Defendant said lie always paid the plaintiff cash, and did in this instance, in presence of Mr. Ball, his father-in-law. The Magistrate adjourned the case for half an hour to allow Ball to be present, and ultimately the case v.as-adjourneri till Saturday. The Elkctric Telkgraph.—A gentleman yesterday evening called at our office, and informed us that one of the posts a short distance on this side of llavelock has fallen to the ground, this accounts for the stoppage of communication by the wires ; our informant stated that the post in question was a small pine sapling, as .also were many others, totally unfit for the purpose they are used for.
