PICTON.
Picton Saw Mills. — Captain Dalton's new mills on the banks of the Dorimica Stream, are also fast approaching completion. This being a spirited undertaking of" some magnitude likely to prove of great general benciit iv developing the resources of this district, we cannot but wish, the spirited proprietor every success. Picton Gaol. — The prisoners are actively employed iv reclaiming part of the land which has been carried away by the Waitohi scream. We would suggest the advisability of this species of labor being always directed to some of the many works required, and "which are postponed from time to time, owing to the paucity of government funds. At present a bridge over the stream above mentioned is much required. " Influenza. — Influenza has been raging in Pictou for the last week or ten days, and there is scarce a family but has one or more of its members, and iv many cases the whole of them affected with this complaint. About this time last year the same complaint was going its rounds, and in many of the other provinces v/e believe it is at present very prevalent. — Blenheim Exjiress.
