Passed Wellington Heads at 8.30 p.m., and arrived at Nelson at 3 p.m. yesterday, having experienced a strong gale and heavy rain on the previous day. The skill with which the Kennedy was handled inn earing the wharf, yesterday, excited the admiration of those who witnessed it. Nelson made her first trial trip under steam, and it was in every sense most satisfactory. As soon as steam was turned on, lier engines at once obeyed the impetus, and worked without any hitch or stoppage; in fact, as smoothly as they had done at any previous time. This fact alone, ; considering the tremendous shaking the machinery must have suffered during the time the vessel was on the beach, speaks volumes in praise of the skilfulncss of those engaged in repairing it. Shortly after starting a pressure of Islbs. of steam was applied, and this was sufficient to impel her at a good pace through thewyrcr. We understand that the Nelson is, de-
spite her late severe hammering on the beach, quite fit to make the voyage to Wellington, to which port she is to sail shortly. We learn, also, that it is the intention of the proprietor,' when the necessary fittings and repairs are completed, to place her in her old trade between Nelson and the Grey. — G. M. Argus,
