The Fenian Presidents, Roberts and Sweeney, are canvassing the States, advocating the invasion^ of Canada, and dispatching privateers from Canadian ports. 12th February. The Royal Commission at Jamaica have commenced thier inquiry. An English advocate is engaged on behalf of Mrs. Gordon, Dr. Underhill and others. America agrees conditionally to continue the reciprocity treaty with Canada for another year. Consols 86§. 13th February. The American Congress have submitted a proposition to Congress ior raising a five per cent. loan. Letters have been received from Mr. Kossaai. announcing that the Abyssinian captives are still alive. Seboli sold into slavery 6,000 negroes. London, February 14th. The Queen opened Parliiuent. The Speech was read by the Lord Chancellor. Mr. O'Donohne's amendment on the Irish Disaffection Bill was rejected by a large majority. The Government proceedings about the cattle plague are severely criticised in both Houses. The promised Ministerial lieforni Bill has been read a first time. The Kouade foundered, after a collision with the Queen of Beauty ; all saved. The second Peabody gift of £100,000 has been distributed. Victorian debentures, 109 ; New South Wales, 94; British Consuls, 874;. Brazil, 27th January. Business quiet. Bank ceased discounting paper money. Allies preparing to attack Paraguay, and demanding the expulsion of Lopez. ENGLISH COMMERCIAL. The Board of Trade returns just issued are most satisfactory, showing an increase in exports last year over 1564 of £2,491, 4-79; and in 186*3, £1,896,970. The Bank of Otago limited, declared a premium and dividend of 6 per cent for the half year. The Scottish Australian Investment Company's dividend was 10 per cent per annum. The Union Bank of Australia's dividend on loth January was £'2 2s Cd per share, free of income-tax. The New Zealand Trust Loan Company's dividend was 10 per cent per annum.
