Southbrook Tennis Club Have Successful Season

The annual meeting of the Southbrook Tennis Club was held last week, Miss B. Watkins presiding over a good attendance.

The annual report and balance sheet showed a successful year with a considerable sum in hand. The club's intermediate team again won the Blain Cup and' several players gained representative honours and success in the North Canterbury tournaments. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr C. M. Archer; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Hodgon, H. Archer, W. Miller and Mrs N. Archer; secretary, Mr M. Pickard; club captain, Mr H. Henry; vice-captain, Mr V. Corbettj"ladies' captain, Miss C. Watkins; delegate to Sub-Association, Mr A. TulIt was decided to hold opening day on October 1. It was decided to support the playing of competition matches on alternate Saturdays, and that there be no reduction in the number of representative and tournament fixtures.
