TO SEND CYCLIST TO AUCKLAND
Appeal Made for Funds
RANGIORA REPRESENTATIVE
AT EMPIRE GAMES TRIAL
After competing at the Canterbury x Empire Games Trial held at English Park on Saturday, G. L. (Lester) Thomson, the champion Rangiora track cyclist, was selected to represent Canterbury at the New Zealand- trials to be held at Auckland next Saturday, Thomson again beat G. R. Giles, the Olympic rider. Other Canterbury representatives selected were Giles, T. A. Grose, and J. C. Murray. An appeal is now made for funds to assist Thomson in making the trip. Already severaf donations have been made, and further sums which Rangiora residents may wish to give in order to have a representative at the trials may be left at the "Gazette" office. The list at present is as follows:
