“THE RECORD” IS WELCOMED

Messages From Mayor and Member for District ENTHUSIASM OF BUSINESS HOUSES The publishers of “The Record” acknowlsedged in the second issue expressions of good feeling from the citizens of Kaiapoi. Below are published messages of welcome from the Mayor of Kaiapoi (the Rev. W. H. A. Vickery) and the Member for the District (Mr C. Morgan Williams. The Mayor writes : ‘7 hanie perused, with keen interest the first issue of the “Kaiapoi Record ” and commend you most heartily on its production. This is what the people of Kaiapoi have been looking for for a long time—a local paper to fill local requirements. ‘7 trust the enterprise will prove a great success.” Mr C. Morgan Williams writes : ‘7 l is with great pleasure that / learn of the resurrection of the “ Kaiapqi Record” which for many years played a very important part in the life of the town. “The old “Kaiapoi Record ” was alivays very kind to me. It reported my first political speech, cmd I never knew what a good speech it was until I read the report in the “ Record.” The columns of the old “Kaiapoi Record” contain many vigorous controversies on local matters as well as on matters of wider interest, and if the new “ Record” is as good as the old one it will be a great asset to the town and district. “Wishing you long life and prosperity.”
