Below are published messages of welcome from the Mayor of Kaiapoi (the Rev. W. H. A. Vickery) and the Member for the District (Mr C. Morgan Williams. The Mayor writes : ‘7 hanie perused, with keen interest the first issue of the “Kaiapoi Record ” and commend you most heartily on its production. This is what the people of Kaiapoi have been looking for for a long time—a local paper to fill local requirements. ‘7 trust the enterprise will prove a great success.” Mr C. Morgan Williams writes : ‘7 l is with great pleasure that / learn of the resurrection of the “ Kaiapqi Record” which for many years played a very important part in the life of the town. “The old “Kaiapoi Record ” was alivays very kind to me. It reported my first political speech, cmd I never knew what a good speech it was until I read the report in the “ Record.” The columns of the old “Kaiapoi Record” contain many vigorous controversies on local matters as well as on matters of wider interest, and if the new “ Record” is as good as the old one it will be a great asset to the town and district. “Wishing you long life and prosperity.”
