The president (Mr A. A. Holland), in welcoming visitors and new members, informed those present that the committee would not be sparing in its efforts to make the season an enjoyable one. The problem of coping with the growth of grass on the fairways would be overcome in the next few days, and the new greens resulting from the new lay-out of the course were in good condition. Mr J. H. James, a foundation and honorary life member of the club, drove the first ball. Most members 'Were not contented to sit in the club house and, despite the weather conditions, a large “gang” of “scramblers” wandered round a few of the holes. To-morrow a Stableford bogey handicap will be played. TENNIS ENDS.—The closing of the Amberley Domain Tennis Club’s season took place during the week-end, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent.
