PERSONAL— Mr Te Ari Pitama, Maori organiser for tile Labour Party in the South Island, has returned from the annual conference of the Labour Party, held in Wellington recently. Mr Ross Piki and Mr Pat Karaitiana have returned from Dannevirke, where they spent the Easter holidays. Mr Ball, Chief Inspector of the native schools, is to visit Tuahiwi School this week. A desire has been expressed that the School, which is at present
under the Control of the Canterbury Education Board, should be taken over by the Native Department. Notable Visitor A noted visitor, Te Mauri Meihana, of the Arawa tribe, Rotorua,' Was entertained last week-end by Miss Hu-* tika Pitama. ON THE AIR.—Te Roopu Pipiwliarauroa presented from this week a cavalcade of Maori song.. Te Ari Pitama, the director of this Group, spoke on “The Future of the Maori.” SPORT.—The basketball and -football clubs have commenced this season’s activities.
