COUNTY RATE PAYMENTS

End-of-Year Summary FINANCES FOR PAST YEAR A cash credit of £l9l/19/11 at the end of the financial year on March 31 was shown in the financial statement presented to llangiora County Council this morning. Payments for the year were £10,570 18/4, and receipts totalled £11,115/2/9, making a book debit of £352/4/6. The statement of rate payments was as follows:

llangiora Riding—Struck, £3066/8/1; collected, £2817/9/7; outstanding. £248/18/6; percentage collected, 91.8. Oust Riding—Struck, £862/3/11; collected, £BOI/19/2; outstanding, £6O 4/9; percentage collected, 93. Hospital rates—Struck, £1963/19/7; collected, £IBO9/8/8; outstanding, £154 10/11; percentage collected, 92.1. Present at the meeting were Crs H. Tallott (chairman), A. Mclntosh, Wm. Smith, R. Macdonald, J. Brqsnan, C. Rands, and Mr S’. G. Dailey (County Clerk). The National Memorial Fund was voted £25. In a protest against the condition of the County road fronting his property, Mr J. M. Ansford invited Councillors to walk along it on a dark night carrying parcels. The foreman was asked to inspect. Camping Ground Regulations The Rangiora-Waikuku Beach Domain Board asked that the Council should not adopt the new health regulations, and the Council agreed not to have them gazetted as applicable locally. “They would make the Beach a drawing room; not a camping gi’ound,” said Cr Macdonald. Cr Tallott favoured enforcing the regulations. The'Government’s proposals for celebrating the Coronation were considered and it was decided to ask all employers of labour to see that a holiday was observed, and to inquire from the Power Board about co-operating in arranging special lighting. The Highways Board notified that as from April 1 the Main North Road would be controlled throughout by the Board as a State Highway.
