Evening at Coldstream

MISS MARGARET PETRIE Honoured Practically every resident, of Coldstream was present, at an impromptu evening held on Monday night in the Coldstream Sunday School Hall in honour of Miss Margaret Petrie, who has been teaching so successfully at the Sunday School, and has now left to take up nursing at the Greymouth Hospital. Mr. A. Stewart, superintendent of the Sunday School, spoke of the great loss Miss Petrie would be to Coldstream, being especially missed by the children. She was one of the first Sunday School scholars and Bible Class girls to become, a teacher. On behalf of the parents and residents he presented. her with a beautiful travelling rug. Mr. W. Stalker spoke of the great loss Miss Petrie’s departure would mean to Coldstream, and of the good work she had done in the district for the School and especially sick people. Miss Mavis Lowe, the youngest scholar present, presented her with a silver backed mirror and brush from the children. Miss Petrie thanked them all for the enjoyable evening they had given her, and especially hoped that the boys would continue their Bible Class. During the evening Miss Alice Tull sang.' Games were played, and an enjoyable supper supplied by. the residents, and arranged by Mesdames A. Stewart, li. I. Mehrtens, A. Thompson, L. Kerr, and the Bible Class boys, was served.

Miss, Olive Earl, Hawarden, has returned to her home after spending a few days with Miss Rosalie Shawe, Rangiora.
