Baby Etepfiant Breaks Second Leg

DUNEDIN, Tue. tF.A.)—Jo-Dee the baby elephant which broke its left hind leg recently at Oamaru and has been convalescing in Dunedin, has now broken the other hind leg. An X-ray taken at the week-end with the public hospital’s mobile plant showed there was a clear crack across the right hind teg just above the knee, and this leg now has been put into a plaster cast. Christmas has been no pleasant interlude for Jo-Dee, as hei broken legs have had to be dressed every four hours and pressure sores on the leg have been causing her seme pain

The dressings have taken fhe full efforts of five people. There have been some compensations, however. Jo-Dee is being fed on primes, eggs, carrots and beetroot, ground up and mixed with glucose, (he whole mixture being fed to her from a bottle.

On top of this mixture Jo-Dee is being given vitamin C tablets, milk of magnesia, halibut oil capsules, yeast tablets and calcium.
