Start Advenfwoys 12,000-Mile Flight

LONDON, Tue. (1 p.m.)—Two New Zealanders and a South African left Lympne, Kent, today in a five-year-old single-engined monoplane on the first hop of the 12,000-mile flight to New Zealand.

They are: Phil Lightband, 25, Peter Hobart, 22, and Don Mcßean. 21-year-old South African.

Lightband, who is the pilot, said the route .would cover France, Switzerland, North Africa,' the Persian Gulf. Pakistan, India, Burma, Siam, Malaya, the Dutch East Indies and Australia. The flight would take nearly a month.
