Clearing W. Coast Road

WESTPORT— Good progress has been made by the staff of the Works Department in filling the gap in the Buffer Gorge road caused by the heavy rain on Sunday night, and it is expected that the highway will be reopened for traffic tonight. Thousands of yards of material from adjacent hillsides have been pushed into the gap by bulldozers. It is expected that it will* take a week to complete the work on the railway gap near Cascade. More than 6000 yards of material will be needed to fill the 90ft break in the formation. Gangs of men cleared other slips on the line yesterday, and work on the major job will be started to morrow.
