Woter Polo Titles

WELLINGTON, Tue; (P.A.).—There were some exciting, closely-contested games'in the national water polo championships begun yesterday at Riddiford baths, Lower Hutt.

The championships will be the basis for selection of the team for the Empire Games. Canterbury was the only team to end the day unbeaten with four championship points, Waikato, Otago, Auckland and Wellington, having two each. Following a referee’s meeting yesterday it was announced that players would be allowed to sink an opponent in possession of the ball but not to swim over him after doing so, and that a goalkeeper could stay in goal for a corner throw.

Attitude has varied In different, part of New Zealand to these tactics.
