RLiSSELL, Tue., (Sp.).— Between 2500 and 3000 people crowcfed every vantage point on the foreshore, wharf and boats in the harbour at Russell today for the annual regatta. The weather was brilliant with a light nor’-westerly breeze. Twenty-one keelers from Auckland and many smaller sailing boats made a picturesque scene in the historic Bay. With the foreshore pohutUkawas in full bloom, speedboats dashing in and out, and Scores of people swimming. Russell Beach presented its most animated picture. Flagship for the day was Mr J. L. Wilson’s Lady Gay, of Auckland. For the speedboat event, the naval patrol vessel, P. 1183, was flagship. She was commanded by Lieutenant W. J. Brown. RNZN.
