Reaction On Change

AUCKLAND, Thu. (P.A.) .—lnvestors found shares scarce on the Auckland Stock Exchange today except at high levels. This was the immediate reaction to the election result. An all-round hardening in sellers’ limits reduced the turnover to a low level. In the insurance grorp, where values had advanced strongly on a wave of confidence in the past fortnight, sellers disappeared. The decision at the polls confirmed investors’ anticipations and was a “bullish” influence for the close of the year. At the noon call buyers of insurance leaders lifted their 'units sharply and attracted a response in sellers at exceptionally high levels. Election reaction was reflected in an improved tone at the Wellington share market today. While reaction was chiefly in groups of stock most sensitive to political changes, the buying strength was generally noticeably better. In the banking section buyers raised offers for Australasias, National of New Zealand, and Union of Australia.
