Husband Is Boss

NEW YORK, Fri.—A Hollywood film director, Nicholas Ray, who will direct his wife, Gloria Grahame, in her next film, made her sign a legal contract today proclaiming him absolute “boss” while they are working on the film. A clause in the contract forbids his wife to “nag, cajole, tease or in any other feminine fashion seek to district or influence him.”

The contract says: “I hereby agree that my husband shall be entitled to direct, control, advise, instruct, even command. my actions during the hours from 9 a.pi. to 6 p.m. every day except Sunday during the filming of the production.

“I acknowledge that in everv conveivable situation his will and judgment shall be considered superior to mine and shall prevail.” Ray said that what happened to him outside working hours was another matter. He would “probably wind up taking orders as usual.”
